Happy New Year + Context for This 2018 Shift

David and I are still busy here hosting my mom and contemplating our own pivotal 2017, with continued major shifts into 2018. Last New Year’s Eve, David and I drove to Kalamazoo from Goshen, IN for a mini-honeymoon at the Radisson, enjoying Kalamazoo’s First Night Celebration. I posted about our experiences here.

What I did not share was how we had reserved our 2016 holiday letter for mailing from the post office in Kalamazoo last New Year’s Eve. We did so with the strong, full intention that we would be living here next (this) year at this time. We felt magic in that symbolic action, and every time we pass that post office, we celebrate the results.

Here we are, and what a whirlwind year it’s been! We have so much gratitude and awe for how everything transpired, and the volume of physical work it took to make it so. For us, 2017 was very much about bringing ideas into tangible actions, step by step into the new. We expect 2018 to continue that trend but in a more expansive and even more grounded and disciplined way.

I don’t have time today to write a long post about the coming energies, but for those wanting more context, I’ll include the following links (and sometimes links within links). I do want to note three significant factors:

1) The Super Moon/Wolf Moon/Full Moon in Cancer on New Year’s Day.

2) All planets will be moving direct on January 2nd, which gives a jolt of forward momentum to long incubating intentions. They will all remain direct until March 8, 2018, so this first quarter supports major movement.

3) The preponderance of Capricorn energy, including Saturn and Sun in Capricorn. Think discipline, walking your talk, and making peace with your own inner patriarch.

4) The powerful Cancer Full Moon energy setting the tone and bringing emotions front and center.

Saturn rules Capricorn, and the Moon rules Cancer, so we’ve got a double whammy of extreme opposites inhabiting and thus strengthening their natural energy and influence. In short, it’s a powerful time — an invigorating, embodied, and potentially demanding start to the New Year. I wish you and yours a powerful recharge and reboot. Goodbye, 2017, and Happy 2018!

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park with Momma Jane

My mom’s out here for a 9-day visit, and Momma Jane is the original CPL (Crazy Plant Lady) in this family. She’s had a gorgeous cacti and succulent garden for as long as I can remember, and she’s got a way with everything from orchids to ferns. After giving my indoor plants a spa day on Wednesday morning, we thought we’d spend today’s “balmy” 18-degree snow showers inside the greenhouses at the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids. This was David’s and my first time there, and we look forward to seeing the outdoor sculptures, plants and trees in other seasons.

IMG_1669

Between Christmas trees decorated in styles from all around the world, Rodin exhibit, the Desert Room, Carnivorous Plant Room, a miniature city made from nuts, bark, leaves and mushrooms, the train, and the 5-story high Tropical Room, we plant lovers were in our element. I thought I’d share some of our favorite photos below. If they’re of me, or they look particularly artistic, David took the photos. He’s really a master at capturing just the right angles and interesting framing. 🙂

IMG_1664

The above photos and the next one are in the entryway, filled with amaryllis, evergreens and natural light displays.

IMG_1666

Once inside, we went into the Desert Room, filled with cacti and succulents of all shapes and sizes. These photos share just a tiny portion of the small and huge desert selections, all highlighted by seasonal poinsettias:

That’s a succulent wreath below:

The Octopus’s Garden — well, Octopus Agave, anyway. You can’t tell scale from this photo, but those cacti in front are bigger than my thighs. The Octopus Agave could gobble us up, if it were in the carnivorous room.

One of my favorites from David:

Those were so tempting to sit upon, but fortunately, we remembered they were cacti! I just love the coyote sculpture in among the plants, as well as the contrast with the snow outside:

Synchronously, David had just borrowed a library book called “Fairy House,” by Mike and Debbie Schramer, and we all looked through the book this morning. It provides in-depth how-to’s for making fairy houses and fairy furniture using found objects like bark, flowers, leaves, and mushrooms. This next large exhibit features famous buildings in Grand Rapids and its sister cities, all created using found materials, integrated into plants, lighting and a miniature railroad. Here are some favorite shots, but again, just a snippet of the incredible detail and lush sights, smells, and sounds:

The tropical greenhouse was amazing — like walking into a rain forest, complete with waterfalls, birds and 5-story tall trees. This next photo from David looks like wings to me, but it’s actually palms flying overhead:

IMG_7054

Their holiday hours kept them open after dark, which made for a moody, magical visit, but a little more difficult to take photos that captured all the details. This one comes close to showing the variety of colors and shapes:

IMG_1696

David also managed to capture another photo of the cozy indoors juxtaposed with the snowy dusk outside:

IMG_7055

He also caught the Chihuly glass on fire at nightfall:

IMG_7063

Looking at the Guest Guide and Map, it’s clear that we saw only the tiniest sliver of the attractions. We can’t wait to return in warmer weather to hear concerts and see the Japanese Gardens and David Nash’s Larch Forest.

No trip to Grand Rapids would be complete without lots of yummy food! We bookended our trip with lunch at Marie Catrib’s and dinner at Rocket Pies, both of which focus on local, farm-to-table and/or organic food, with plenty of options to meet any diet or desire. We have yet to eat anywhere in Grand Rapids that’s not out of this world delicious, but these two really hit the spot today. Highly recommended if you’re ever passing through!

Elicia Miller ~ Express What’s Repressed

Today’s post is a courtesy announcement for other coaches, therapists and healing practitioners:

My friend and colleague, Elicia Miller, is offering her last taught-by-her “Express What’s Repressed” 60-Day Program. (After this course, she’ll be training others to facilitate this program rather than teaching it herself.) I’ve had many clients greatly benefit from Elicia’s various programs and offerings for Core Emotional Healing. This particular program starts on January 3rd and is only for coaches, therapists, and healing practitioners who need to address things themselves in order to help their clients and business.

Plus this is the prerequisite for Elicia’s certification program starting April 2018. You can find more information here: https://eliciamiller.com/core-emotional-healing-training/

I know I have quite a few counselors, coaches and healers as blog readers, so I wanted to give people a “last call” heads up, in case you’ve felt called in this direction. (As a Medical Intuitive, I’d say this program would be especially supportive of any professionals dealing with neck, thyroid, and/or jaw issues.)

January 2018 Specials

I’m posting these early since I will have limited time between now and the end of the year. You still have a few more days to purchase December 2017 Specials, but those would also need to be scheduled in 2018.

JANUARY 2018 SPECIALS

$44 Tarot Overview for 2018

So many people request Tarot readings at the beginning of the year that I felt led to make this a New Year’s Special.

Half hour tarot readings at 20% off the usual rate. Tarot readings offer an energetic check-in, the chance to ask questions about pending decisions or intentions, and represent a fun, yet powerful way to gain perspective on relationships and challenges.

Tarot readings are particularly good for people who don’t know what kinds of questions to ask me; they just want some kind of guidance because they feel unsure of what’s coming or what to focus upon. Tarot also seems to benefit those people who have exceptionally good things coming their way, yet wonder if I might be “padding the reading” or “just saying what they want to hear.” The cards don’t lie. (Neither do I – but the cards seem an even more objective medium for delivering good news.)

Please contact me if you’d like to sign up for this special. Offer valid if prepaid on or before January 31, 2018.

Three for Two

Another New Year’s Special to help optimize intended shifts for 2018: start off empowered, supported, and efficient with good focus and discernment.

Three hours for the price of two: save $222. This package can be used in whatever increments you choose — hour, 40-minute, half-hour or 20-minute sessions — and for whatever services you’d like — Medical Intuition, Life Coaching, Soul Readings, or any other related service. $444 if prepaid on or before January 31, 2018, and yes, you may purchase more than one package. Please contact me to sign up.

We Tied the Celtic Knot on Yule

Happy Winter or Summer Solstice, depending on your location! I cannot believe it’s been a glorious, action packed, enormously transformative YEAR since David and I tied the Celtic Knot on Yule. We’ll spend this day celebrating our shifts, eating a piece of last year’s Yule Log wedding cake, visiting some favorite spots in Michigan, and continuing to envision and enact next year’s journey.

We are also taking some time to honor our vast friend, Tim, as he had planned a mysterious Yule celebration for himself before his sudden passing. Or perhaps in eerie anticipation of that passing?! He was most mysterious about the ceremony, but had requested today and tomorrow off work and indicated to us the ceremony’s importance to him.

The past 72 hours have brought such a Celtic knot of synchronicities, memories, dreams, owls and aha moments that I now consider Tim’s passing to be what Aristotle defined as a good ending: “inevitable but unexpected.” I will post less private details sometime, but for today, David and I celebrate one year of marriage, our major life change of moving to Kalamazoo at Summer Solstice, and the friend who was so intertwined with that evolving process.

For us, Yule always reveals itself as pivotal. Solstice = Sol (Sun) still (for three days). May you find the magic in the moment.

Laura Bruno's Blog

Some of you already knew and maybe some of you wondered: David and I tied the Celtic knot on Yule. Literally: our rings are from Dublin.

img_0752

Since we began our relationship as housemates, we have never not lived together, but a series of both subtle and not-so-sublte synchronicities recently revealed to us the time, manner and place of our sacred union.

We wanted our ceremony completely private, just between us, and I am not a wedding kind of gal. I’ve often said, “The only way I would have a wedding would be on Halloween so that everyone’s in costume, obviously reflecting their respective roles.” All true, but we wanted more than a courthouse experience to sanctify our marriage. Heaven, Earth and especially the Faery Realm aligned. It just so happened that we got married at midweek, at dusk, on Winter Solstice, by a hearth, as close as possible to the…

Alternative Tim Martin Remembrance

Thank you to everyone who’s left comments, emails or caring texts about our sweet friend’s sudden journey into the Otherworld. David and I are doing as well as can be expected. I feel so blessed to be able to use my gifts, skills and experience to help support Tim’s daughter Eimhear (“ever”) through this process. For me, this has been so helpful in my own grieving, as I know I am giving the greatest gift I could possibly offer Tim. She’s doing surprisingly well now that she knows her dad is very much in her corner, giving her signs and support and messages during this difficult time.

Eimhear’s mother (Tim’s lovely ex-wife Kathleen) started a GoFundMe site that explains how and why they’re going about things in a non-traditional way. Because of Tim’s reverence for the Earth, they’re allowing no chemicals into his body, which means no viewing, a cremation, and for now, they’re having just a private family ceremony. Eimhear and Kathleen initially contacted me to help plan a very “Tim” kind of wake or send-off, but as we’ve discussed options, a less “out there” ceremony for family members feels most supportive right now.

Kathleen started the GoFundMe page because a lot of people really loved Tim. So many people have contacted her asking if they can send flowers to the funeral home. As Kathleen says, “We understand Tim touched many people who are left shocked by his sudden passing who would appreciate the opportunity to express their grief in some manner, so we have opened this Gofundme in lieu of flowers that may have been sent to a viewing. Any funds donated will go exclusively to help cover Eimhear’s college expenses that Tim had previously taken care of.”

Please understand this is not a “please give money” post, but rather an option for those who loved Tim to be able to do something tangible in their grief. I know being able to offer tangible support to Kathleen and Eimhear has made this a beautiful, though difficult journey, so I wanted to share this opportunity for anyone who feels so led. Whether you knew Tim or not, if you’ve read this blog for the past 2.5 years, you’ve been touched by Tim. He was a huge presence in our lives and a rich source of inspiration and ideas, which he continues to be in so many ways. You can read more and/or donate by clicking here.

Fly Free, T-Bird! We love you.

David and I just learned that our dear friend, Tim Martin, passed away yesterday. He was and is a beautiful soul and will be deeply missed. I mentioned him after the first of our moves to Kalamazoo: “Thanks again to our superhero friend Tim, aka T-Bird, for all the above and beyond help this weekend.” “Above and beyond” was right.

Tim was not afraid of Death. We spoke of it often, not in a morbid way, but in a natural cycles, Faery Realm, and depth psychology way. On Wednesday he texted me: “Interesting that my first memory is of my brother and I looking for snakes in a brush pile considering how my whole life can be seen as a chthonic journey; realized this this morning on the drive in”

I usually get a heads up when someone close to me is about to pass — sometimes months ahead of time with a 24- to 48-hour window of time when they’ll pass. I’ve had heads up about clients’ relatives I’ve never met, my grandparents’ deaths, my father’s death, death date of a friend’s husband and then sensed her own death. I don’t share this information, because you never truly know, and also I don’t want to give anyone any self-fulfilling prophecies.

But Tim’s passing came as a shock. As his best friends, we are deeply grieving the loss.

We knew he was going through a massive shift, and he sensed it would occur before Winter Solstice. Looking through texts and emails, there were many signs that his liberation might be a bit more dramatic than anyone, including Tim, anticipated.

Tim was a very, very good friend. A huge orb of love in an aching world. He wrote gorgeous poetry and was a voracious reader, always learning, always seeking truth. I used to call him Tim Bombadil after Tolkien’s character, Tom, my favorite from Lord of the Rings. He’s the only Cancer male I’ve ever managed to stay friends with, a 7/7 baby, magical to the core. He loved the Earth as his Mother, made beautiful altars and photographs, offered whiskey to faeries, and his daily communing with Nature surpassed most people’s once-in-a-lifetime peak mystical experience. We texted so often I needed to delete the text streams every six weeks to free up memory on my phone. Now I wish I’d kept them all.

His daughter Eimhear (“ever”) was the light of his life, and we send so much love to her and her family right now.

In a recent text, Tim told me he wanted to be reincarnated as a Nac Mac Feegle. He had nagged me into reading “The Wee Free Men” and then got me hooked on Terry Pratchett’s Tiffany Aching series. In gathering some poems and recent words for his ex-wife and daughter, I felt led to look up this quote about Granny Weatherwax, which, if you knew Tim as we do, you’d find so clearly applies to him, too, in his sacred grove.

And yes, Tim had a truly sacred grove, which we were blessed to enter with him on more than one occasion:

“Tiffany thought of the little spot in the woods where Granny Weatherwax lay. Remembered.

And knew that You had been right. Granny Weatherwax was indeed here. And there. She was, in fact, and always would be, everywhere.”
Terry Pratchett, The Shepherd’s Crown

As David said in a 3-way text stream with Tim on Friday, “Fly, T-Bird, fly!”

We love you, Tim. Nice to have such a brilliant ally on the Otherside, but we will miss your laugh, your constantly changing ideas, and your bear hugs. We’ll miss your great big heart that overworked itself all these years. Now you can love and be loved with no limitations.

Blessed Be, my friend. You were and are such a blessing in our lives.

Doe, A Deer, A Female Reindeer: The Spirit of Mother Christmas

This is an excellent post on the relationship between shamanism, reindeer and modern day Christmas iconography. It includes many source materials, as well. I also suggest researching Elen of the Ways for additional information on the ancient stories and resurgence of the Reindeer Goddess. Many thanks for such a collection of images and source materials!

Oh wondrous headed doe… Amongst its horns it carries the light of the blessed sun…” Hungarian Christmas Folk Song

Long before Santa charioted his flying steeds across our mythical skies, it was the female reindeer who drew the sleigh of the sun goddess at winter solstice. It was when we “Christianized” the pagan traditions of winter, that the white bearded man i.e. “Father Christmas” was born.

Today it is her beloved image that adorns Christmas cards and Yule decorations – not Rudolph. Because unlike the male reindeer who sheds his antlers in winter, it is the larger and stronger doe, who retains her antlers. And it is she who leads the herds in winter.

So this season, when we gather by the fire to tell children bedtime stories of Santa and his flying reindeer – why not tell the story of the ancient Deer Mother of old? It was she…

Ann Kreilkamp ~ “Saturn to enter Capricorn on December 19, 2017 — slow down! Serious business ahead!”

Huge thanks to fellow permaculture friend and blogger Ann Kreilkamp for this excellent write-up. I read energies and come to similar conclusions via different means, so it’s always helpful and confirming to see it all explained from an astrological angle. If you’ve been feeling or noticing an increased sense of immediate “karmic consequences” for yourself or others living out of alignment, or if you feel like life’s “putting the squeeze” on you (and/or the US and its sick underbelly), read on for context and strategies:

Saturn to enter Capricorn on December 19, 2017 — slow down! Serious business ahead!

By Ann Kreilkamp

Saturn moves through one sign in about two and a half years. This will be its first transit through Capricorn since 1988-1990. If you recall, those are the years that surrounded the fall of the Berlin wall, on November 9, 1989. One of the keywords for Saturn is “wall.” Plus, that wall was up for 30 years, one Saturn cycle!

Back then, not only Saturn, but electric Uranus and oceanic Neptune were also transiting through Capricorn, moving in and out of conjunction during part of that time, and not leaving until 1995.

The millennial generation, born during those years, is tasked, on an unconscious level, with dissolving (Neptune), breaking down (Uranus) and reconfiguring (Saturn) forms — of both our own bodies and the institutions of society. For Capricorn is a sign that rules form, structure, rules, roles, regulations. It sets the philosophies and ideologies of Sagittarius (where Saturn transits just prior to Capricorn) in place, gathering, holding, and stabilizing energetic flows through its forms and channels.

This time around, since early 2015 during which Saturn has been moving through Sagittarius, has triggered intense debate on what kinds of ideas and ideals we should use to reform or transform society. The debate has been heated (Sagittarius is a fiery, sometimes preachy sign) and often dogmatic (Sagittarius, when unevolved, resorts to dogma, the illusion of certainty).

Meanwhile, since early 2008, the year that the banksters almost crashed the capitalist economy, Pluto has been moving through Capricorn, where Saturn is headed now. From that year on, with (unpredictable) Uranus in Aries squaring (deep, primal, birth and death) Pluto, humanity has surrendered to an enormous array of discordant, disruptive, polarized energies, most of which can be classified as “individual vs. society,” or “freedom vs. enslavement,” or, simply, “me vs us.”

How DO we maintain our own individuality and autonomy while also connecting on a deep level with what is best for the whole? How do we appreciate both, simultaneously? The dynamic between them, with one ever seeking (and failing) to crush the other, is ongoing, and will ultimately erode whatever remains of current structures of civilization during the years when transit Pluto moves back and forth across natal Pluto in the U.S. chart. Natal U.S. Pluto sits at 26°33 Capricorn. Transit Pluto is now only eight degrees away, moving through at 18° Capricorn. Even now, transit Pluto begins to foreshadow the enormous transformational changes required when a planet makes its first return to its natal place since that entity’s birth.

For yes, this is the very first time in its short history that the U.S. will be fully absorbing the long-cycled observance of Pluto, the first time that this young, adolescent nation will have to begin to recognize the right use and misuse of power. Compared to other, older nations, the U.S. nation, with its imperious imperial reach, has been acting like a two-year-old, yelling “me me me!” over and over again, selfish, myopic, and driven by tantrums.

We can feel the changes. They are epic. Already no longer is the U.S. Empire getting its hegemonic way across the globe. And it hurts.

Meanwhile, here comes Saturn, about to enter that same sign of Capricorn, and in Saturn’s case, Capricorn is the sign it actually rules. In other words, the meaning of planet Saturn (teaching lessons from hard experience) and the meaning of the sign (rules, roles, regulations, form, structure) agree with each other. That makes this coming transit stronger than usual. We will be forced to pragmatically rebuild structures through hard lessons about what works and what does not. Not just our visions and ideals count. The breezy Sagittarian insistance on its beliefs as best gets grounded into material reality with Capricorn — or not!

Saturn itself, entering 0° Capricorn only two days before Winter Solstice 2017, when the Sun reaches 0° Capricorn, and joining the sun in being only three degrees from the 27° Galactic Center during this deep winter turning time, lends a definite Capricorn aura to this particular Winter Solstice. Serious business lies ahead folks, and we can’t escape it. We will be forced to slow down. To pay attention to practical matters. To focus and plan ahead while knowing that all plans are liable to crumble in the light of what’s coming next.

And it’s better to tune into the coming unpleasantness (for that IS how we think of actually working with the physical world rather than just thinking about it), rather than just trying to ignore it. In any case,  avoidance will be short-lived. We will be forced, slammed, into paying attention to actual material reality.

Transit Saturn will move through Capricorn starting December 19, 2017, and reach the natal U.S. Pluto during the years 2019-2020.

Transit Pluto will reach the natal U.S. Pluto from those same years throughout the first half of the 2020s, until 2025.

If we think we’ve seen big changes so far, think again. And get ready to surf massive material reconfigurations on Planet Earth.

And we haven’t even mentioned Uranus, due to leave fiery Aries for earthy Taurus in May 2018, where it will remain until the end of 2025.

Two earth signs, Capricorn and Taurus, are about to be occupied by two long-range outer planets, Pluto (now buttressed by Saturn) and Uranus, signalling a massive unconscious shift, not only in the cultural atmosphere but in our hearts and souls. We have been living in our minds, going faster and faster, obsessed with virtuality and triviality. In doing so, we have been either treating our living bodies, and our living mother earth as A.I. machines, or ignoring them outright — for far too long.

Thus this shift comes as a needed correction.

Plus, notice: natal U.S. Pluto at 27°33 Capricorn sits in a close opposition to natal U.S. Mercury at 24°12 Cancer. We are already feeling the effects of transit Pluto nearing this opposition, with the obliteration of mass mind control (Pluto) as promulgated by the MSM media (Mercury)

Moving Beyond Discouragement

I had an email catch up with a friend today, and we both thought parts of our exchange would help anyone else facing discouragement. I’ve corrected typos, added paragraphs for easier reading, and removed obviously identifying information like names, location and personal details. Otherwise, the question and my response appear intact below.

This week I’ve heard from enough clients, friends and relatives that I know more than just my friend are dancing a mazurka with discouragement. Whether your challenge stems from money, work, family, health, life path, and/or romance, please know, you’re not alone. You don’t need to know your entire trajectory right this moment. You just need to get unstuck by finding and taking the next step. And then the next one. As J.R.R. Tolkien said, “Little by little, one travels far.”

My friend:

… As an aside, do you ever get discouraged? The reason I ask is because you always seem so confident in your dealings and writings about Faeries, the world beyond the Veil, and all things spiritual/mystical, and that is a tremendous inspiration to me, but things lately with ___ and me just seem to be taking some intense and disheartening turns. It all centers around money. It’s a major issue for both of us, and it is in the forefront just now. SO much just seems to be collapsing in that area.

I really feel like I am doing all the right things, but yesterday was awful, and I totally lost my temper with my Guides and everyone Over There, which is so unlike me. I’m sure the influence of Scorpio is part of it, but honestly, I am so, so discouraged and upset about everything. I feel like I don’t even know my own self anymore. Damn, that does sound like Scorpio (and the House) stirring up subconscious garbage. Does this part end at some point? Wednesday evening was wonderful, with deep insights, heart-opening conversation, and I went to bed feeling so good. But then, wham!

There’s been a lot of that lately. I just wondered if this is me being weird and untrusting, or if this is normal and healthy. I can’t even tell anymore. I feel like packing up my crystals and feathers and candles and books. But I don’t know what I would do without them.

Me:

Hehe, you sent that at 11:11. 🙂

Do I ever get discouraged? Not now, but I was no stranger to discouragement earlier on my path. I’ve also been known to throw the occasional “Enough is Enough” “Faery Hissy Fit,” which always precedes a major shift. It’s like my own energy has had enough of a situation, and one way or another, I refuse to tolerate those circumstances any longer. I might get annoyed with circumstances or a little like “I don’t know HOW I’m gonna find my way out of this one — but I know I will, because I always do.”

I don’t get discouraged, per se, because I know that I can shift things whenever I’ve really had enough of a situation. It might take thinking outside the box and especially being willing to look at those Shadow areas and the “of course it couldn’t be that” things … but I know no one is ever truly stuck if they’re willing to explore ALL their options. Also, I’ve had enough ebbs and flows of life to know that when the tide seems so far out that it will never come back in, it surely will. If it hasn’t yet, then I ask what I need to learn, acquire, set up, or pay attention to now because I’d be too busy to do so once the tide rushes in.

Saturn goes into Capricorn on December 19th [2017]. That is huge, since Saturn (taskmaster of the zodiac) has a slow cycle. We’re also in Mercury Retrograde, so really, I wouldn’t count on having any major answers, clarity or decisions before year end. It’s just not likely, so go with the little steps, the present moment, and all the re’s … re-evaluate, review, revamp, re, re, re … which the energy does support. Have you and ___ explored ALL your $$ options, or only the ones that seem like “should’s”?

Most spiritually conscious people I know right now are overextended in terms of faith at the moment, but it’s the energy of “We’ve come this far; now would be a stupid time to stop or to start doubting our progress. We are WAY past the point of no return, so just finish the job.” You can’t turn back, but even if you could, it would be lot longer journey than staying the course.

I keep getting that you two are not exploring all of your options. There are LOTS of … options for all sorts of things. When you ask for the options, also ask for the eyes to recognize them and the courage to take the next step. And realize it might initially be several seemingly unrelated options you need to explore, which then becomes the next step.

Hey, can I post this exchange on my blog but without your identifying details? It took awhile to answer, and I suspect a lot of people could benefit from being flies on the wall to this one. This issue is up for many people right now.

xoxoxo, love, and magic,
Laura

My friend:

OF COURSE it was 11:11! lol

Now that you have said all that, I can also recognize the same pattern repeating. That was also part of my anger last night — that “here we go again” feeling. I know it will be OK in my head, and all this is part of the process, and I believe myself absolutely incapable of giving up my connection to the other side, but dammit, I get so tired. It’s also been a hard week in other ways, so there’s that.

I will take your advice and ask for eyes to see what we might be missing in terms of income. …

I have to go to a meeting right now, but I have “heard ” you. And i love you dearly for allowing me to vent a little.

And yes, please do use this on your blog. I really took it to heart when I heard in church as a child that we should lead by example, and that’s what I try to do.

Thanks so much!

You’re here to heal and be healed. If you feel pressed for time, then close your eyes and “take a breath of God.” All your power in all time radiates from the present moment.

Forest Bathing, Indoor Garden and Writing Updates

Several people have inquired how my November writing month went, as well as how we’re enjoying David being in Kalamazoo full-time now. I thought I’d give some quick updates. We still love it here! Every week we find new local hiking spots of such beauty, and we haven’t even begun to explore the various forests one to three hours from here. So far, we just feel delighted to drive three to fifteen minutes to scenes like these:

We love having David up here full time! We continue to settle in here, with David’s office now built and just waiting for unpacking. We put up the Christmas/Solstice decorations, put the yard to bed for Winter, planted the remainder of 200+ daffodils and alliums for Spring color, suddenly found all manner of long held clothing, shoe and kitchen desires manifest at unbelievable discounts, and we’ve attended some great lectures and local concerts. Next on the project agenda: the basement.

I’m glad I did not officially join NaNoWriMo this year, as I wanted to tap into the creative energy of so many people focused on writing, without forcing myself to write words just for the sake of word count. I feel good about the fiction writing I did this month, much more sure of my themes, location and some of the characters. I soon realized which directions would not carry a full novel, but I enjoyed finding unexpected subplots and new directions for the main story.

I continue the delve into characters, themes, location and inherent conflicts, curious how it will all come together, but I’m glad I relaxed the daily word count goals once David got up here full time. We’re still technically newlyweds, and we’ll never have this first time freshness in this house again. We love the adventure of finding just the right use and decorative expression for each nook and cranny of our home, and we’ve so relished our little road trips to Ann Arbor and Holland. I wanted to begin my next novel, and I have. I also unexpectedly got some new ideas for the nonfiction Lyme book I had set aside.

I continue to offer sessions throughout all of this, and the indoor garden seems as happy about all the progress as we are:

Wishing you and yours some marvelous days … whether you’re approaching Winter Solstice or Midsummer.

Reverence for the Void

I’m reposting these wise words and beautiful video shared by Faery sis Tania, as it goes along with my dream yesterday, as well as offering encouragement for so many I know who are grappling with deep healing and choice points. Be gentle with yourself, and know that you are in a sacred time and space.

“I have come to accept the feeling of not knowing where I am going. And I have trained myself to love it. Because it is only when we are suspended in mid-air with no landing in sight, that we force our wings to unravel and alas begin our flight. And as we fly, we still may not know where we are going to. But the miracle is in the unfolding of the wings. You may not know where you’re going, but you know that so long as you spread your wings, the winds will carry you.” ~C. JoyBell C.

Like many of you (I sense), I have been experiencing the beautiful, mysterious, powerful, transmutational void – again. And yet, while it is all of these things and more, it can to many be unnerving, confusing, challenging, debilitating, disillusioning, disappointing, and even…
